Introduction spray chrysanthemum Lemond by P&M van der Knaap

The new Armada variety Lemond has been introduced this morning by P&M van der Knaap, Wateringen at the auctions of Naaldwijk and Aalsmeer. The bicoloured spray chrysanthemum owes it's red and yellow striping to so called transposons. Those are 'jumping' DNA-fragments which can naturally occur in chrysanthemum. The transposons can either block or promote the formation of flower colour pigments. Hence the bicolour effect is much less sensitive to fading (or darkening) than traditional bicolour chrysanthemums. Varieties based on transposon technology can also be very sensitive to complete plant mutation, so that 10-15 % complete red plants can be formed. Lemond is characterized by a great stability and right now the percentage complete plant mutations is less than 0.5%. The rich flowering chrysanthemum has an excellent shelflife, is pollen free, has a good vigour and uniformity. The variety will be available in quantities of 20.000 stems per week in FleurPrimeur.

Armada wins silver Press Prize at Plantarium 2008

During Plantarium 2008 in Boskoop Armada won the silver medal at the Press Prizes with her pot hypericum series Miracle®.
The series, which at this moment consists of six different varieties, was awarded because of it's perfect berry presentation in colours ranging from red, pink, white and coffee on the compact growing plants. The contrast with the dark green foliage makes pot Hypericum a new patio plant, with a high ornamental value. The insensitivity for rust implies that this series is a real improvement for this market segment and makes the varieties very distinguishable from the rest. After this the press had no problem at all finding the Armada stand.

Enthousiasm for new pot ranunculus varieties

1 2

On Friday 16th of February Armada has organised an open day for her pot ranunculus customers in cooperation with Biancheri Creations from Italy. The target of this meeting was to evaluate last winter season and to discuss the supply at the auction. The new pot ranunculus lines "Mille Petali®”and “Pratolino®” that were grown from 'corms' show a great quality improvement and flower earlier than the traditional pot ranunculus. Mille Petali® also has a much larger flower size than the standard types. Both series will be on the market from week 7-8. They are your answer to the demand for early flowering and top quality pot ranunculus.

On the first nursery from gebroeders van Dam the Mille Petali® was evaluated. The quality was excellent and they were satisfied with the crop this season. The second nursery that was visited was from gebroeders Mast. They grow the Pratolino® varieties. The early flowering habit of this line was very obvious. They will supply their product from week 8.

Last week both series were introduced and buyers were happy with the quality and availability of the new series. For more information see our pot ranunculus page.
